Something happened last night and I am really not sure what. And...I am not sure if I care to find out. I think I may just need to take a step back and look at the big picture. And after that I need to step back again and look at the even bigger picture. And I am pretty sure that everything is sitting in an even grander position in this thing called life.
Life becomes really interesting when you look at it all with the perspective that God is God, He knows what He is doing, and EVERYTHING that is going on in your life revolves around him whether you intend for it to or not.
It's like...
1) God made you. (references to God making you:
Genesis 2:7;
Genesis 2:18-22;
Job 31:15)
2) God has a purpose for your life. (
Jeremiah 29:11;
1 Chronicles 28:9;
Isaiah 14:26;
Isaiah 46:9-11)
3) God is with you in that purpose. (
Jeremiah 29:11-13;
Jeremiah 10:23)
4) God's purpose for your life is a part of his grander purpose for humanity. (
Ephesians 1:9-11;
Matthew 28:16-20;
John 3:16)
5) Regardless of the specific individual things God has called us to do, we have to do them according to this:
Mark 12:28So...it is interesting when you view your life in this light. Because really, your life is not your own. The bottom line to every situation is this: 1) Are you loving God? 2) Are you loving EVERYONE? 3) Is your life (through actions; not just lip service) an introducing everyone you meet to God?
I've found that once I look at EVERY aspect of my life through that lens, problems look different, circumstances look different, and everything is a blessing. Bad things really aren't bad anymore. From the smallest most inconsequential misunderstandings to even some of the most horrific incidents, traumatic events that most people don't even know happen or happened in my life.
So...whenever I get caught up in feeling myself, demanding too much, I will just step back and remind myself of what is written here. Because as much as I hate to admit it, this thing called life really isn't even about me.
